About Us

 

David Niehoff - Adventure Program Coordinator and Trip Leader- David has been leading and teaching outdoor adventure activities since 2001.  He received a degree in Outdoor Experiential Education from Appalachian State University in 2003.  Since then he has continued to work in the outdoor recreation field, including working with the Northwest Adventure Center in Fort Lewis, Washington where he started a rock climbing and caving program.  He has lead activities which include sea kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, caving, hiking, backpacking, and international trekking.  He is trained in wilderness medicine and has worked on an ambulance as an EMT.  

Certifications and specific experience
-Wilderness First Responder - Remote Medical International
-Top Rope Site Manager - American Mountain Guides Association
-Sea Kayaking - Taught numerous courses in sea kayak rescue, kayak roll clinics, and has lead numerous multi-day trips in the Pacific Northwest and Asia.
-Backpacking and Treking - Led many wilderness backpacking trips throughout the world, and international treks in Yunnan China, and in the Khumbu region of Nepal.

Tetsuya Hikita - Assistant Instructor - Tetsuya has been spending his free time in the mountains since he was young growing up in Osaka.  Now he has moved to the Kanto area and continues to challenge himself with taller and more difficult mountains.  He has been on many trips in the Japanese Alps and other areas of Japan.  Currently he is training to become a rock climbing instructor.  His great personality and knowledge of Japanese mountain culture make him an essential asset to this program.

Expanding - As this program grows we will be in need of new instructors and trip leaders.  We are looking for people with significant outdoor adventure experience, and ideally Wilderness First Aid training, or other relevent emergency medical training.  If you are interested in helping this program grow, and building your leadership skills, please contact us.
