On this trip we are headed for the southern-most part of the Yatsu-ga-dake range for a loop hike up and over Amigasama and Nishi-dake. Both of these peaks offer great views of the whole range including Aka-dake, as well as Mt. Fuji on a clear day. It is alpine terrain with relatively easy access.
The total elevation gained on the hike is 850M over 9km and there are no difficult sections on the hike, just a relaxing day of great walking in the mountains.
The hike starts out in Fuji-mi-kogen and hikes up through the lower forest and you'll be able to see how the plant-life changes from tall evergreen trees up to the alpine zone of small haimatsu bushes growing among the summit rocks.
We'll descend a different route from the climbing route so everything will be new scenery throughout, and we'll finish off at a local hot spring with sauna and outdoor bath and the option for a great Japanese dinner before making the trip home.
