This is a car camping trip to the Ura-Bandai area in the southern-most part of Tohoku. Fall comes early here, so expect nice cool temperatures. We will be camping out next to a beautiful lake which features a magnificent sunsets.
You can expect to eat really well on this trip. We will focus on cooking all of our best camping recipes including some dutch oven meals! You will not go hungry when camping with Kanto Adventures!
On Saturday, we will depart Ikebukuro early and make the drive out to the Bandai area stopping off at Goshiki-numa for a visit of the wetlands and a short loop hike through. Then we will head to our campsite to get set up then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the area around the north end of Hibara Lake. This includes some short hiking trails as well as some relatively unknown hot springs as well.
Sunday, we won't be in any rush and after breakfast will head to Bandai-san one of the 100 famous mountains for a partial loop hike up to the summit. You can expect to see some amazing fall colors while up there as well as great views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. After this hike we'll stop by a local hot spring before heading back to camp for an amazing sunset and dinner.
Monday we will need to get an early start packing up camp and after breakfast head over to Nishi-Azuma another of the 100 famous mountains for an awesome hike in some great alpine scenery above the tree line.
After the hike we will visit a hot spring, and then make the drive back to Tokyo.
