This trip departs on Friday night the 24th at 7:30p.m. from Ikebukuro station. 2 nights lodging and 2 full days lift ticket are included in the trip price.
We are heading to Nagano for a weekend at two of the greatest powder and tree skiing resorts in Japan. Lots of powder, lots of tree skiing, even plenty of back country and side country to be had.
Due to the costs and difficulty getting lodging at either of these resorts we have opted to stay in the center of Nagano city and just make a short drive to each resort each morning.
Saturday we will be skiing at Nozawa Onsen and plan to stay in the area to around 5:30 p.m. before heading back to Nagano for dinner. This will give everyone plenty of time to visit some hot springs after a day of skiing.
Saturday night we have booked a great restaurant, Scirocco, in Nagano which features amazing pizza, pasta, and other Izakaya dishes, craft beer, good wine and more.
Sunday will be an early start to get up to Madarao before lifts open and spend a great day in the trees and on the slopes. There is also a beginne friendly back country route available if snow conditions are good that only involves 20 minutes walking at the start and end. We will provide a ticket for Madarao but you can upgrade to include Tangram as well for a small fee.
Ski / Snowboard Rentals:
We can arrange for a ski and snowboard set to be picked up on the way to the mountain. Gear can also be sent in advance to the lodge.
Lodging Details
We will be staying in Central Nagano at a new hotel / hostel that just opened up this season, Gondo. We have reserved a mix of quad bunkbed rooms and double rooms for our group's exclusive use. There is also a kitchen available if you'd like to fix up a hot breakfast before leaving each morning.
