This trip departs on Friday night January 9th at 7:30p.m. from Ikebukuro station. 3 nights lodging and 3 full days lift ticket are included in the trip price.
We are heading to Nagano for a weekend at two of the greatest powder and tree skiing resorts in Japan. Lots of powder, lots of tree skiing, even plenty of back country and side country to be had.
Due to the costs and difficulty getting lodging at either of these resorts we have opted to stay in the center of Nagano city and just make a short drive to each resort each morning.
We will spend one full day at Madrao based out of the Tangram side where the initial lift lines are smaller and give us quick access to upper mountain powder stashes. There is also a beginner friendly back country route available if snow conditions are good that only involves 20 minutes walking at the start and end. Full mountain ticket including Madarao side will be included.
We will also spend 2 days skiing at Shiga Kogen and will cover various areas with the final decision of location to be decided by actual conditions and weather forecast. The options include all of our favorites such as Ichinose, Terakoya, Yakbitai, Oku-Shiga, Yokote-yama and Kuma-no-yu.
Saturday night we have booked a great restaurant, Scirocco, in Nagano which features amazing pizza, pasta, and other Izakaya dishes, craft beer, good wine and more.
Sunday will choose based on interest of group or divide and conquor. There are lots of great spots in town and it is easy to get in compared to all of ski town restaurants.
Ski / Snowboard Rentals:
We can arrange for a ski and snowboard set to be picked up on the way to the mountain. Gear can also be sent in advance to the lodge.
Lodging Details
We will be staying in Central Nagano at a new hotel / hostel that just opened up this season, Local Knot. We have reserved a mix of quad bunkbed rooms and double rooms for our group's exclusive use. There is also a kitchen available if you'd like to fix up a hot breakfast before leaving each morning.
