Amagi-san on the Izu Peninsula is one of the 100 famous mountains of Japan, and is also the tallest peak on the peninsula. This hike is 8km in total, and has about 400 meters of ascent during the hike. It is beginner friendly and has great views.
We will start from the Amagi Kogen Golf course and work our through mossy green forests where we will see a few old growth trees should be featuring some great fall colors. Once we reach the ridge we'll have views of the ocean and Mt. Fuji. The descent will be along a different path, making this a loop route.
After the hike we'll make a drive to the Riverside Baird Brewery next to the Kano River in Shuzenji, where a cold pint of craft beer will be awaiting you at the end of the hike. A brewery tour may be available for anyone interested. We'll have plenty of time to hang around the Taproom with a great outdoor balcony and enjoy sampling the beers available as well as their fantastic bar menu.
