9/28~30 (Sat~Mon) North Alps Traverse - Daikiretto
Due to the difficulty in securing space and crowds in huts and tent sites on the holiday weekends, we are running this 3 day trip on a non-holiday weekend. The first day is a big day covering 12km with 1,900 meters of elevation gained starting from Shin Hotaka Onsen, and then making the climb up to Yarigatake where we will spend the first night. Sunday will be the main event doing the traverse from Yari through the Daikiretto and up to Kita-Hotaka. Then comes an even more difficult section making our way to Hotaka-sanso through Karasawa which is very airy and exciting. 10/5(Sat) - Makihata-yama Alpine Hiking
Makihata-yama (巻機山) is not technically challenging, but this hike does have around 1,100 meters of elevation gained over 6km to reach the summit. We have timed this hike to hit the peak of the fall colors in the area.We start out in the forest area gradually ascending through different eco-systems as the trees gradually thin and we end up above tree line hiking on the main ridge with 360 degree views. . 10/12~14(Sat~Mon) Goryu to Kashimayari - Extreme Hike
This hike is one of the most exciting hikes in the Hakuba Alps range, covering 2 of the 100 famous mountains as well. We will begin by taking a ropeway up Goryu and then climbing up to the Goryu Hut and spend the night. Monday will be the most extreme day as we hike the summit of Goryu and then enter the Yatsumine Kiretto (八峰キレット) which drops down 500 meters and climbs back up another 500 meters to the summit of Kashimayari. This section features some exposure, and some chains and . 11/9(Sat) Mizugaki Fall Hike
Mizugaki is a craggy granite peak on the west side of Yamanashi, and features amazing 360 degree views from the top. The hike isn't terribly difficult, but there is some fun scrambling involved in getting to the top. We should be able to catch the fall colors on the mid to upper part of the mountain and enjoy some great views from the top with the typically clear autumn air. We are changing our usual route this year and will visit Fudou-taki (不動滝) on the way down making this a great loop route. 12,500円 +tax (Transportation and Onsen entry included) Hiking Level: 2B |
11/30(Sat) Mt. Fuji Panorama Hike and Sengen Shrine Visit
We are headed to the 5 Lakes area for a ridge loop hike above Lake Shoji, the smallest of the 5 lakes. The views on the ridge are amazing and with the typical clear fall weather we should have great views of a snow covered Fuji dominating the land sacape. This hike is not particularly difficult with about 700 meters of elevation gained and lost over 8km total. After the hike we will visit the Fuji Sengen Shrine in Fujiyoshida which is one of the most important shrines for Mt. Fuji and set in an old growth cedar forest.
