We all know that Tokyo is a big city with a lot of people, and on the weekends, all of those people try to the leave the city at the same time on Saturday morning and come back on Sunday evening. After 4 years of running trips to numerous places in and out of Kanto, we have gained a good understanding of when the traffic peaks and where the typical jams happen. Using this knowledge we have selected pick-up locations that are outside of the center of the city where traffic is the worst, but with quick access to the highways that take us to the mountains.
Many of our pick-up stations are not so well known places, but they are all just a short ride from central Tokyo. We also have many particsipants coming from the Yokohama area, and the military bases like Yokosuka, Zama, Atsugi, and Yokota, and have selected locations with convenient access from those locations as well. Taking the train from those locations takes the same or less time than driving, so you are not increasing your total travel time by joining us.
Please note that you should arrive 5 to 10 minutes before the departure time as it takes a bit of time to walk to the pick up location, so please keep this in mind when planning your trains.
Below we have more detailed information about each of our pick-up locations including travel times.
