We have put together an amazing deal for a one week trip trekking in the Aosta Valley in Northern Italy on the border with Switzerland. More specifically we will be trekking next to the Matterhorn and near other giants such as Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc. The trek we will be doing is a one way hike in the village of St. Andre' near Aosta and finishing in the village of St. Jacques just below the Matterhorn.
This highest point of the hike is 3,394 meters on the 3rd day of the trek, and our highest sleeping altitude is 2,652 on the first night of the hike.
We will meet up in Milan home of amazing art, cathedrals, and great. For those who arrive on Friday or Saturday, there will be time to explore the city before beginning the trek.
Some meals are included and listed below, but huts without included meals, you may order off the menu. The mountain cuisine is amazing and you will not go hungry on this trek.

Everyone is requested to arrive in Milan no later than 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, July2nd.
There are a number of flights departing on Friday evening and Saturday that arrive between Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Please select your flights accordingly. If you arrive on Saturday there will be time to explore central Milan, try some amazing food, and visit some museums and cathedrals. If you arrive later than 7:30 a.m Sunday., there are public transport options to get to Aosta Valley, but you will miss out on some of Sunday's activities.
*For Saturday arrivals, lodging is not included in Milan - Meetup will be near the central station

July 2 (Sun) - Savoy Castle and Jose Angster Via Ferrata
Lodging: Hotel Rendevous 7:30 a.m. - We will arrange meet up in central Milan and pick up anyone arriving at the airport on Sunday morning. After gathering our group together, we will make a 2 hour drive to Gressoney at the start of the Aosta Valley. Our plan for that day is to visit Savoy Castle at 11 a.m. Then we will have lunch at a local cafe and for the afternoon we will do a 2.5 hour moderate Via Ferrata Route. After completing the via Ferrata we will move to the starting point of our hike and check-in to our guesthouse. *No meals included |
July 3 (Mon) - St. Andre' - Gilliarey - Coritina Lake - Lake Cignana
Distance: 11km - Elevation Gained: 950m Lodging: Barmasse Refuge For the first half of this trekking day, we will gain most of our altitude in the first few kilometers getting up to the peak of Gilliarey which also has a small chapel with beautiful artwork inside. From there we continue on farm roads and trails past Coritina lake, and then on to our hut on the shores of the larger Lake Cigana. This is not a super difficult day, but there is plenty of alpine scenery and gives us a good warm up for the rest of the trip. *Breakfast and Dinner included Hiking Level: 2B |
July 4 (Tue) - Lake Cignana- Via Ferrata Sperone di Vofrede - Rif Perucca Vuillarmoz - Lake Cignana
Distance: 14km - Elevation Gained: 1200m Lodging: Barmasse Refuge This is going to be a challenging but awesome day. We will leave most of our luggage at the hut and only take day packs for a loop hike that includes an ascent of the Sperone di Vofrede Via Ferrata. This is a moderate level Ferrata with some amazing views of the Matterhorn while traversing along the walls. After reaching the top we will move on to the Perucca Vuillarmoz Refuge for a lunch break. Then it's a gentle hike back down to Lake Cignana and the Barmasse Refuge where we will spend a 2nd night. *Breakfast and Dinner *Hiking Level: 3C |
July 5 (Wed) - Lake Cignana - Ferrata Del Gorbellion - Grand Tournalin Refuge
Distance: 11km - Elevation gained 975m Lodging: Grand Tournalin Refuge This will be an exciting day starting out with a short walk into the main valley of Cervinia. We will ascend the Ferrata Del Gorbellion (optional), a via ferrata with some challenging climbing sections and a Tibetan wire bridge. This ferrata takes about 80 minutes to complete. After that we will continue hiking along the Alta Via 1 trail and stay at the Grand Tournalin Refuge. If time allows along the way, we will also climb up a peak called Becca de Nana at 3,010 meters. *Breakfast and Dinner Included *Hiking Level: 3B |
July 6 (Thu) Grand Tournalin Peak - St. Jacques - Rif Ferraro
Distance: 11km - Elevation gained 1200m Lodging: Ferraro Refuge On our 4th trekking day after breakfast we will make a summit climb of Grand Tournalin Peak, the highest point of this trek at 3,379 meters. Edward Whymper (first to summit the Matterhorn) used this peak to study the routes of the mountain and claimed it to be the best view of the mountain. Round trip from the hut will take about 3.5~4 hours. After returning to the hut to pick up our luggage it will be a relatively gentle walk down to the village of St. Jacques where we will finish the day Then after having lunch, it's an easy 400 meter climb up to our hut for the night. *Breakfast and Dinner Included *Hiking Level: 3B |
July 7 (Fri) Rif Ferraro
Distance: 12km - Elevation gained 900m and 900m lost Lodging: Meininger Milano Lambrate On our final day after breakfast we will set off north leaving the Alta Via 1 trail making a circle around Monte Rosso. This will take us in a valley just below a number of glaciers and 4,000 meter mountains making for some spectacular scenery. From there we head south to the Bettolina Pass. From there we descend via a moderate trail down 900 meters, or there is chairlift available for 12 EUR. After having lunch ,in Gressoney we will make the drive back to Milan and spend the evening enjoying the city. *Breakfast included *Hiking Level: 2C |
July 8 (Sat)
You'll have the morning available to explore Milan. We'll plan transport to the airport based on everyone's flight times. If you have a later flight then you may be requested to take public transportation, but the cost is minimal as the airport is close to the city center.

July 9 (Sun)
Depending on your flight schedule you will arrive at either Narita or Haneda in the afternoon to early evening.
You'll have the morning available to explore Milan. We'll plan transport to the airport based on everyone's flight times. If you have a later flight then you may be requested to take public transportation, but the cost is minimal as the airport is close to the city center.
*No meals included
July 9 (Sun)
Depending on your flight schedule you will arrive at either Narita or Haneda in the afternoon to early evening.
*You are also welcome to arrive on an earlier day or depart at a later day if you wish to explore more in the area before coming back to Japan.

50% of the trip fee is due within 1 week of booking, and the remainder will be due 2 weeks before the trip.
Mountain Huts: Mountain huts in the Alps are very comfortable, and you can expect to have a lot more space than you would in a Japanese mountain hut. Prices for food are very reasonable and it is all super tasty. Local beers cost 3~5 euros for 500ML, and many of the huts are also equipped with coin showers. You will need to have a sleeping bag liner or cotton sleep sack for staying in the huts though.

Any cancellations less than 30 days before the departure date will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee. 31 to 60 days before the departure date will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.
