Hakkai-san is one of the 200 famous mountains, and is an extreme hike with lots of chains and knife ridges. If you have been on one of our climbs at Myougi and enjoyed it, then this is another climb you will truly enjoy. Plenty of exposure and great views through this out and back ridge climb.
The trip meets up Friday night in Hanno and we will all stay at Hiker's B&B so we can depart early to beat the traffic jams and get to the ropeway station as it opens up. Total distance of the hike is about 9km and takes 5 to 6 hours to complete. It starts off with a nice warm up gentle ascent gradually getting more and more technical until a final 15 meter vertical chain climb at the end. We will provide helmets and harnesses for everyone and will provide a backup belay on any tricky exposed sections.
After returning to the ropeway, we'll visit a hot spring and make the drive back to Kanto.
