This trip departs on Friday night the 14th at 7:30p.m. from Ikebukuro station. 2 nights lodging and 2 days breakfast are included in this trip as well as 1 full day lift ticket.
We are heading to the Hakuba area for 2 days of skiing in the Japanese Alps. We are keeping the schedule flexible to take advantage of the best possible snow conditions. One day will be spent at the giant resort of Happo One', Japan's largest single ski resort and home to a number of the Winter Olympics events. There is a huge variety of terrain here for all levels, and plenty of side and back country options as well.
Our other resort will depend on snow conditions. If we have a powder day predicted on either Saturday or Sunday, then we will spend a day at Cortina, the powder capital of Hakuba. Lots of tree runs, ungroomed slopes as well as back country skiing entrance for those with appropriate training and equipment.
If the weather does not cooperate, then our back up plan is to spend a day at Tsugaike which is a large and generally uncrowded resort with plenty of terrain for all levels. There is also a tree run area that was recently opened and the resort has some great food and drink options available.
Ski / Snowboard Rentals:
We can arrange for a ski and snowboard set to be picked up on the way to the mountain. Gear can also be sent in advance to the lodge.
Lodging Details
We will be staying in Hakuba near the Iwatake ski area. There are a number of bars and restaurants in the area, and it is also a short trip to the center of Hakuba where there are more options available as well. Our lodge for the trip is Winterfell Hakuba Chalet a European Alps style lodge. Breakfast is included on the Happo morning.
