Our Hiker's B&B in Hanno has been open for a year and we are going to celebrate with a party to celebrate 1 year of living and working in the mountains and enjoy the amazing spring flowers in the area.
Saturday's Hike - The group with gather at Higashi-Agano station (東吾野駅) and we will start our hike up through a river valley with beautiful gardens and the highlight of this hike will be the Yugate (ユガテ) mountain village which is a local secret featuring tons of spring flowers and houses from the Edo and Meiji periods. From there we climb up to the main ridge and hike through other villages and past temples until we reach Kaofuri pass (顔振峠) which features a view of Mt. Fuji and tons of other mountain ranges, then it's a short walk to the B&B.
Distance: 8km Elevation Gain: 350M
Sunday's Hike - After breakfast we will go on a hike along the old school road that children in the Meiji period and early Showa used to walk to go to school in the neighboring village. We will take this to the Yatoko (八徳) village which features tons of hill side vegetable gardens and a very beautiful 300+ year old Sakura tree with an amazing mountain view. From there we climb up to the main ridge and then drop down the other side to Kuroyama Waterfalls. From the waterfalls we will take a different route back up to Kaofuri pass where we will stop at the local tea house for lunch. The tea house features local mountain vegetable (山菜) tempura and other great mountain dishes. After lunch it's a short walk back to Agano station.
Distance: 7km Elevation Gain: 400M
The Menu:
Saturday Dinner: Dutch oven meat and veggies, soup, salad, garlic toast, dessert, and more.
Sunday Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs, root hash, biscuits and mushroom gravy, and spinach. Of course we will have plenty of coffee to go around as well.
You are welcome to bring your own beverages, but we will also have craft beer available for sale as well as a selection of mixed drinks and wine.
*Please note we are in a very dry season and our water supply is limited, so showers on Saturday have to be kept very short and we need everyone to conserve water.
