On this trip we are going to head out to the South Alps to a river gorge that has been kept relatively secret. Our hiking path will head up a gentle ridge ascending 400 meters over 4km to the summit of Hinata-yama. This is a very unique summit covered in white sand and has great views of the Southern Alps from the top. We'll return via hiking above the Ojiro Gorge and passing by a large water-fall along the way.
The total hiking distance is under 10km and will take about 3.5~ 4 hours to complete.
We're going to make the best of this Saturday with a visit to the Suntory Hakushu Distillery where they make their prize winning Hakushu Single Malt. We'll have the opportunity to learn about the whiskey making process as well as have a tasting of their whiskey and other beverage line.
