Hacho Pond on the Izu Peninsula is part of the Amagi-san traverse trail and we'll be walking a good portion of this starting out near the Amagi Tunnel.
The hike is fairly gentle working our way up a ridge line with great views and eventually traversing across an old lava flow to walk up a creek valley which heads up to the pond. There are some unique species of trees in this forest, as well as some very interesting tree formations growing in the volcanic soil.
After the hike we'll make a short stop by the Joren waterfall then drive to the Baird Brewery where a cold pint of craft beer will be awaiting you at the end of the hike. A brewery tour may be available for anyone interested. We'll have plenty of time to hang around the Taproom and enjoy sampling the beers available as well as their fantastic bar menu.
