Kashimayari is an amazing pyramid shaped peak in the heart of the Northern Alps. It is the 36th highest mountain in Japan at 2,889 meters, but is definitely a truly challenging hike. Total hiking distance on this route is 21km over 2 days with approximately 1,600 meters of elevation gained and lost.
On Saturday we still start out early hiking up the Kashiwara-Shindo route with our first goal of the day to hit the peak of Jiigadake. From the summit of Jiigadake we will have one of the best views of Kashimayari. From there it's a short drop down to our campsite where we will set up our tents. If the weather is good and we have time and energy, we will make a go for the summit of Kashimayari which is about 3km away from our base-camp.
On Sunday, we will enjoy an amazing Alps sunrise before packing up our gear and heading back the way we came. If we didn't get to the summit on Saturday, we will have a go at it this day. After descending the mountain we will head out to a great local hot spring to relax before making the trip back to Tokyo.
