Climb Japan's 2nd and 3rd tallest peaks on this trip and see some amazing views and watch the sunrise next to Mt. Fuji. We have reserved mountain hut and camping space.
This trip departs on Friday night to allow us to get the earliest start possible so we will have time to climb Ai-no-dake on Saturday.
Saturday: We will have an early start on Saturday morning taking a a shuttle that will take us to the base of Kita-dake. The hike on the first day is definitely a hard one and will require a lot of energy to reach the mountain hut, but the sunset and views from our campsite are worth the effort. If we make it up in time, we can make the 1 1/2 hour round trip up to the top of Ai-no-dake, the 4th highest peak in Japan.
Sunday: We'll wake up just before sunrise, and watch and amazing view of the sun rising next to Mt. Fuji from our campsite. After sunrise we'll have a hot breakfast and then head up to the summit. The return route is a bit different to keep things interesting dropping down the shoulder of the mountain on a bunch of switch backs making it about as gentle as can be had for a 3,000 meter mountain. After returning to the van, we'll head to a hot spring to relax after this great hike.
*We arrange private jumbo taxis in advance to get to and from the trail-head so there is no need to line up for a bus or to get in the long shared taxi line. This is one of our most popular trips and fills up fast every time we list it, so if you'd like to join, sign up as soon as possible!
