9/2~3 (Sat~sun) Kobushi-ga-dake - Nishizawa Keikoku Overnight Hike

Kobushi-ga-dake is deep in the Oku-Chichibu mountains in Yamanashi Prefecture, and it is one of the 100 famous mountains of Japan.

On this hike we will climb from Nishi-zawa-Keikoku a beautiful gorge with tons of waterfalls at the peak of the fall colors season. After getting to the end of the gorge we will begin a challenging ascent up to the main ridge of Kobushi-ga-dake and set up camp by the Kobushi hut. The summit is only a 15 to 20 minute walk from the hut, and we can check out the sunset and sunrise from there.

On Sunday, we'll have a hot breakfast before heading down a different route above the Nishizawa Gorge. This route is an old logging railroad grade so it is not steep, and is a very enjoyable descent.

After getting down we'll head to a local hot spring and time allowing stop off at the Budo-no-Oka wine tasting cave to sample up to 180 different kinds of local wine before heading home.
