Komochi-yama is a rock climber's paradise with a giant cliff face and amazing views. There are also a number of hiking courses to get to the top and we are taking that option on this trip. Our route will climb up the south ridge of the mountain, and during the ascent there will be some exciting ladder and chain sections, but nothing difficult or very exposed, so it's a good route for people to get their first taste of chains in the Japanese mountains.
Total hiking distance on this trip is about 8km with just under 800M of elevation gained. The route is a partial loop and we will climb the steeper fun route on the uphill and take a more gentle route for descent before rejoining the main trail.
We are keeping Sunday June 20th available as a backup date for this hike in case of bad weather.
Check out photos from a previous climb we did.
