Kushigata-yama is not a super famous mountain, which means no huge crowds, but it does have some spectacular scenery. It is situated right on the edge of the Southern Alps topping over 2,000 meters in height.
We are timing this trip to meet up with the peak of local iris blooming season which is mid to late July. We are planning a 8km loop hike with about 500 meters of elevation gain total.
Our hike will start and end at the Ike-no-Chaya Trailhead (池の茶屋登山口) and walk North a bit below the main ridge which is where there should be a lot of wild flowers. Then we will loop back around along the main ridge crossing over 3 peaks along the way to the main peak of Kushigata-yama at 2,052M. Generally this hike has some ups and downs but stays at a high elevation the whole time.
After the hike, we'll head to a local hot spring to get cleaned up and have some ice cream before heading back to Tokyo.
**Sunday 7/12 is also available as a backup date in case of bad weather. If we need to move the trip and you are unable to join, then a full refund is possible, but try to have both days available for the best experience.
