On this trip we are headed to Nagano to try our hand at skiing in powder in the Japanese Alps. Trip departs Friday night Tokyo station. 2 nights lodging, Sunday breakfast, and Saturday lift tickets are all included in trip fee.
On Saturday we will head to Ryuoo Ski area in Kita Shiga which is virtually unknown to foreign skiers. The upper part of the mountain has an amazing 39 degree ungroomed slope as well as beautiful steep tree runs. Tons of beginner and intermediate stuff on the mountain as well, so all levels will be happy.
Friday and Saturday nights we will be staying at a local log cabin and will cook our own dinner and breakfast (Sat / Sun).
Sunday Powder Hunt
Sunday's resort is not decided, and we will choose the location on Saturday night or Sunday morning based on where we will find the best snow. It's 13km to Nozawa Onsen, 18km to Madarao, and 45 minutes to Shiga Kogen for high altitude slopes. No matter what the weather brings we will be able to find
Ski / Snowboard Rentals:
If you need rentals get in touch and we can help arrange some cheap rentals for Saturday, and we'll either pick up gear on Sunday morning at a local rental shop or you can get gear at the resort depending on the location we choose.
Lodging Details
The lodge features a small kitchen and all tableware we need to prepare dinner. We will cook together and eat together. We plan to visit an onsen before heading to the lodge Saturday evening.
