Nasu-dake is classified as one of the 100 famous mountains of Japan, and despite it's height of under 2,000 meters, this active volcano is a very scenic and beautiful mountain. On this trip we'll be climbing all 3 peaks of Nasu-dake.
We will spend Friday night at the Hiker's B&B in Hanno so we can get an early start and hit the highway before there is any traffic and start the hike early enough so we will not need to rush through the day.
The hike begins by making our initial ascent up to the main mountain ridge in a valley between Nasu-dake and Asahi-dake. From here we'll do make a quick side trip up to the summits Asahi-dake and then a longer out and back up to Sanbonyari having lunch on the top. We'll take a loop course that takes us along some volcanic vents and come up to the summit of Chausu-dake and then drop back down the other side and head to the car.
