This snowshoe trip is a one way walk through a little traveled area in winter, so we have a great chance of making fresh tracks on this trip. We will start off near Senjo-ga-hara, but head up through a valley getting a moderate climb along the way to Karikomi Lake which which should be frozen over. There are great views of the mountains from the lake.
There has been a ton of snow this year so conditions are great up in Nikko. After lunch near the lake we will continue hiking past a couple more alpine lakes and there will be some opportunities to do a bit of sledding as we head down. Then we drop down into the Yumoto Onsen valley which is known for it's milky white hot spring water with a strong smell of sulfur. Warm up and relax in the bath surrounded by the snowy scenery.
