Due to the current guidelines regarding Covid-19, our trip to restart the hiking season is going to be more local and accessed by local transport.
The group with gather at Shomaru station (正丸駅) and we will start our hike immediately from the station hiking up some small local roads through a nice mountain village gradually gaining elevation and then moving onto a trail that heads to Shomaru Pass (正丸峠) with some great views including Mt. Fuji. From there we continue along a ridge passing over 3 named peaks before getting to the base of Izugadake.
There are two options to get to the summit. One is an exciting 80 meter chain ascent up steep solid rock which is quite exciting and fun. There is also a non-technical path to go around the rock climb and still arrive at the summit. Lunch is planned on the summit and then we will descend via a different hiking course back into the mountain village and then to Shomaru Station finishing the loop.
Distance: 9km Elevation Gain: 850M
