Escape the heat of Tokyo and camp out at 2,000 meters where the high daytime temperatures are only 25C. This is an overnight hike, but we will set up a base-camp about 1 hour from the starting point, and it is a mostly flat walk making this an easy overnight hike if you aren't used to carrying a bigger bag.
Mountain huts are available each night for anyone who wishes to travel light for 6,500~7,000 yen per night.
*This trip departs on Friday night due to the heavy traffic predicted for Saturday during this summer holiday period.
Saturday:
Once we reach Oze, we will have to take a shuttle bus to the trailhead and start our hike to the campsite at Yama-no-hana hut. After setting up our tents and having lunch, we'll take a hike through the Oze Marsh taking tons of photos of the amazing scenery that can't be seen anywhere else in Japan.
We'll cook up a great dinner at our campsite and enjoy the stars before heading to bed.
Sunday:
Day 2 of our trek will start out early packing up our tents and then doing a loop route to the summit of Shibutsu-zan one of the 100 famous mountains of Japan. The route itself is not difficult, and it's a steady gentle climb all the way to the summit with 360 degree views of the mountains in Gunma and Tochigi. After making the summit it's a gentle ridge run all the way back to the start of our hike.
We'll stop by a hot spring before making the drive back to Tokyo finishing the weekend off in style.
