This course is designed to take you from top roping to outdoor sport climbing including lead climbing, rapelling, and anchor building.
Day 1 will focus on lead climbing skills, and all aspects of the lead climbing process from starting on the ground, clipping bolts, building an anchor, and cleaning the anchor. Leading will start out with a top-rope backup and participants who are ready to move on to the real thing will have the opportunity. Rappelling will also be practiced, and this day is intended to give you a good foundation for single pitch lead climbing in the outdoors.
Day 2 will be spent putting these skills to use at a different climbing and adding a few additional skills needed to climb multiple pitches in one go. Route finding will be a skill that you will need to put into practice this day. Throughout this day there will be short lectures and demonstrations and then you will be expected to put those skills to use on the rock. For those who are ready there will also be practice sessions in using traditional protection like cams and nuts and you'll have a chance to put them into use on lead as well.
