This trip departs on Friday night the 18th at 8:00p.m. from Ikebukuro station. 2 nights lodging and 2 meals are included in this trip as well as are 2 full day lift tickets.
We are changing up our usual Urabandai plan and trying out a new resort on one of the days, Minowa Resort. Smaller resort with some amazing backcountry options available and sticking with Alts Bandai and Nekoma for the huge variety of terrain available.
The order of the resorts will depend on the snow conditions. Our lodging will be in a large private house with wood stove and 5 bedrooms located no more than 30 minutes from our resorts. Saturday night dinner and Sunday breakfast will be prepared together in the lodge.
The resorts:
Alts Bandai is one of the biggest ski resorts in Tohoku and offers a huge range of terrain for every level as well as many lifts including a gondola. Tree skiing may also be possible if the conditions are right. On the backside of the mountain there are lots of deserted slopes to be enjoyed. It is also connected to Nekoma Resort small resort, but features great snow quality on its north facing slopes, and also there is some off piste and tree skiing. Nekoma has steep and fast slopes and great for advanced skiers. Our tickets cover both areas.
Minowa Resort looks to be a small family ski resort, but it has some awesome tree runs availalbe throughout. There are 3 lifts with 11 different courses and 450 meters of elevation. Check out the Powderhounds review for more details about this secret gem of a resort.
Ski / Snowboard Rentals:
We can arrange for a ski and snowboard set to be picked up on the way to the mountain. Gear can also be sent in advance to the lodge.
Lodging Details
Our cabin is one of the Sengen Cottages that that has 10 beds in and is a mix of Japanese and Western style. There is a beautiful kitchen, wood stove, nice bath, and all ammenities needed for a night up in the mountains. It's in a great setting between the lake and mountains, and provides quick access to the ski areas.
