The Tanzawa Mountains are close to Yokohama and Tokyo, easily accessible by train and bus, but on this trip we are heading deeper into the mountains to West Tanzawa for a great loop hike in an area difficult to access by public transport. On this trip we will be taking the Inukoeji route which is a ridge hike heading over multiple peaks with amazing views of Fuji. The hiking overall is not technical, but there are a number of chain sections on the ascent from the pass to the main peak. This hike does involve over 1,000 meters of ascent to reach the top of the ridge so everyone joining needs to be in good shape. Total hiking distance is just over 11km on this loop route.
After finishing the hike, we'll head to Nakagawa-onsen where the cherry blossoms may be out for us and then head back to Tokyo after relaxing for a bit.
